New Delhi: Vinesh Phogat has finally been disqualified from the women's 50kg final at the Paris Olympics 2024. The star wrestler, who created history as the first Indian woman to reach the finals of a wrestling event at the Olympics, was disqualified on the morning of her competition. August 7 for being over the 100 gram weight limit. Despite her and the Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) efforts to secure a joint silver medal by appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the appeal was dismissed.

From August 7 to August 15, Vinesh Phogat kept mum about her post-disqualification experience. However, on Friday, she broke her silence with a detailed three-page post on X.

Vinesh opened up on why the Paris Olympics was a big event for her.

“During the wrestlers' protest I was fighting hard to protect the sanctity of women in India, the sanctity and values of our Indian flag. But when my pictures are seen with the Indian flag from 28th May 2023, it bothers me. Let the Indian flag fly high in these Olympics, the Indian flag is true. I wanted to have a picture with me that shows the value and restores its sanctity. I felt that doing so would properly rebuke what the flag went through. I was really looking forward to showing that to my fellow Indians,” Vinesh wrote in a long post.

She added that she and she did not surrender to the situation.

“There is so much to say and so much to say but words will never be enough and I will speak again when appropriate. On the night of August 6 and the morning of August 7, I just want to say that we did not give up, our efforts did not stop and we did not surrender but the clock stopped and the time was not right. wrote

“Such was my fate. My team, my Indian colleagues and my family feel that the goal we were working towards and what we had planned to achieve is incomplete, that something may always be missing and that things may never be the same again. Maybe under different circumstances, I could see myself playing until 2032, because I will always have the fight and the wrestling in me. I cannot tell what the future holds for me and what awaits me on this journey, but I am sure that I will always fight for what I believe in and what is right.
