In a statement, Kamala Harris said, “I am honored to have the President's endorsement and I intend to seek and win this nomination.” Over the past year, I've traveled the country talking to Americans about the clear choice in this important election. And that's what I'll be doing for days and weeks to come. I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda.”

“It is a great honor to serve as his Vice President and I am proud to be President Dr. Deepest gratitude to Biden and the entire Biden family. I first got to know President Biden through his son Beau. We've been friends since we worked together as attorney generals of our home states. While we were working together, Beau would tell me stories about his father,” she said.

“As a father—and the type of man—he was. And the same qualities Beau respected in his father, the same values, I've seen every day under Joe's leadership as president: his honesty and integrity. His big heart and his faith and commitment to his family. And his love for his country and the American people. With this selfless and patriotic act, President Biden is doing what he has done his entire life: putting the American people and our country above all else,” she added.

Her statement comes after Biden announced his decision not to seek re-election “in the best interests” of the Democratic Party and the country. He said he would speak to the country in more detail later this week.
