Trump attempted assassination in his first speech

Former President Donald Trump drew attention at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Embracing the Republican Party's presidential nomination, he confidently declared, “Tonight, in faith and loyalty, I proudly accept your nomination for President of the United States.” As he walks to the podium to deliver his acceptance speech, “God Bless the USA,” a live patriotic song performed by Lee Greenwood fills the air and gradually builds in intensity. In his first speech since Saturday's failed assassination attempt on him in Pennsylvania, Trump said he stood before the American people with a message of confidence, strength and hope.
Recalling the assassination attempt, Trump attributed his survival to divine intervention, saying, “I had God on my side.” Donald Trump said that there was blood everywhere, and yet, in a certain way, “I felt very safe, because I had God on my side”, as he described the experience of the attack. “If I hadn't moved my head at the very last moment, the assassin's bullet would have hit its mark completely and I wouldn't be with you tonight,” Donald Trump added.

He expressed his gratitude to the American people for their love and support following an assassination attempt on him at a campaign rally. “As you already know, the assassin's bullet came within a quarter of an inch of killing me. Many people have asked me what happened, and so, I will tell you what happened, and you will not hear it from me a second time, because it is too painful to say,” he said.
“Despite such a terrible attack, we stand together this evening more determined than ever. Our resolve is unwavering, and our purpose unchanged – to deliver a government that serves the American people. With all that I have to give, all the energy and fight in my heart and soul, I pledge to our nation tonight,” he said.
“This election should be about the issues facing our country and how to make America successful, safe, free and great again,” Trump said of the Nov. 5 election.
“In an age when our politics often divide us, now is the time to remember that we are all fellow citizens—we are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. On this journey, I am honored to be joined by my wonderful wife, Melanie. Thank you, Melania, and thank you, too, for your beautiful letter to America for National Unity. He charmed many,” he said.
