Music composer and three-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Cage talks to Bharat.com about his record-breaking biggest music lessons, a brand new rendition of the national anthem and much more.

A three-time Grammy Award winner, Ricky Cage Having repeatedly represented the Indian tradition internationally, it has made a significant impact on the world music scene. Last year, Ricky released a remarkable version of the national anthem in collaboration with the prestigious 100-member Royal Philharmonic Orchestra which is a testament not only to the nation but also to the global presence of Indian music. This year, Ricky Cage broke the world record and took India's festival to unprecedented heights.

Ricky Cage on Bollywood Music VS Niche Music

Coming with an experience, Ricky has seen the industry evolve. As we delved deeper into the landscape of the music industries and the boundaries blurring in the name of artistic freedom in rap songs, we asked Ricky about artistic freedom in mainstream music. “I don't do songs for the film industry because I think a lot of songs in the film industry are wrong and objectify women”, he says. Ricky goes on to say that he believes artists need to understand that their music will leave a legacy behind, that their art will remain after they are gone, that it is up to them how they want to be remembered, whether that includes their art itself. Offensive music or something that is not harmful and has a positive social impact.

Talking further about mainstream music versus niche music, the three-time Grammy award winner shares that the main difference between the two is that mainstream artists make music to appeal to a mass audience however, when a niche makes music that they like, it should be no longer. Can't compare.

Ricky Cage broke the Guinness World Record

After conducting the largest symphony ever to perform the National Anthem with the 100-member Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Ricky Cage has taken the celebration of Bharat to an extraordinary level by breaking the Guinness World Record. This year, Ricky Cage brought together 14,000 children and some legendary Indian musicians to give the biggest music lesson ever.

Talking about the challenges he faced while curating this music lesson, Ricky shared, “Working with the kids was the easiest part, they learned the rhythms and notes easily”. However, they faced challenges in logistics because no one had done it before, so there was no point of reference. To record this masterpiece, they converted the entire stadium into a recording studio and got around 200 microphones with the best sound engineers.

Ricky Cage's new rendition of the national anthem will be royalty-free for any purpose as long as it is unedited and preserves the purity of the national anthem on the eve of independence. Further, individual versions of recordings featuring each Ustad Geeta from end to end will be available after August 15.
