The Kalki 2898 AD team received a legal notice for misinterpreting Hindu scriptures

Nag Ashwin's recently released sci-fi film Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas, Amitabh and Deepika has run into legal trouble. The situation came to light after notices were issued to the film's production team and actors like Amitabh Bachchan. Former Congress leader, Acharya Pramod initiated the course of action, alleging that the film contradicts and misrepresents religious scriptures, thereby hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community. Acharya Pramod said, “India is a land of emotion, faith and devotion. Children should not tamper with religious values. Do not tamper with the scriptures of Sanatan. Lord Kalki Narayan is at the center of our faith. He is considered as the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu (sic). The Congressman added, “This film is against what is described in our scriptures. The movie is hurting our religious sentiments. Therefore, we have raised some objections and are awaiting a response. Playing with the emotions of Hindus has become the pastime of filmmakers. Saints are depicted as Asuras. Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can play with our beliefs (sic).
Acharya Pramod issued a legal notice against the Kali 2898 AD cast with the help of Ujjwal Anand Sharma, an advocate of the Supreme Court of India by profession.
What did the notice read?
The legal notice issued by Ujwal read, “Your film has changed the basic concept about Lord Kalki, as written and explained in the Hindu Puranic scriptures, and for those reasons, the depiction and depiction of the story of Lord Kalki is complete. It is a wrong and flagrant disrespect to these sacred texts which are central to the religious beliefs and practices of hundreds of crores of devotees.”
The notice further reads, “Such portrayal has already created confusion and tends to irreversibly taint the mythology and folklore of Lord Kalki in the hearts of devout Hindus, leading to misunderstanding, misinterpretation and decay of the latter. Hindu faith, which is highly offensive to the faith and religious sentiments of our customers, and needless to say the Hindu community (sic) at large.
