Donald Trump attacks: Melania Trump, the wife of former US President Donald Trump, issued her first statement after being attacked at a rally on Sunday. “When I saw my husband, Donald, violently shot, I realized that mine and Barron's life were on the brink of a devastating change,” she said. Melania called her attacker Thomas Matthew Crooks a “monster”. Crooks was shot dead at the scene.

“I was shot above my right ear,” Donald Trump said after the deadly attack during a rally in Pennsylvania. I immediately knew there was something wrong with it. I heard a thud, shots and immediately felt the bullet go through the skin.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed that the attack on Donald Trump was an “assassination attempt”. The FBI has identified 20-year-old Thomas Crooks of Pennsylvania as the suspected shooter at the Trump rally. After the shootout, he was shot dead by Secret Service snipers.

As a reminder, in a similar attack on Donald Trump, Theodore Roosevelt was shot during his 1912 re-election campaign as a former President of the United States, while Presidents Andrew Jackson, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman were also shot and survived assassination attempts.

Four US presidents, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy, were shot dead.
