Spaniard Manolo Marquez replaced Igor Stimac as the new head coach of the Indian football team

New Delhi: According to sources, Spanish player Manolo Marquez will be appointed as the head coach of the Indian national football team in place of Igor Stimac. Marquez, who previously coached Hyderabad FC and currently manages FC Goa in the Indian Super League, was in a three-way race with Antonio Lopez Habas and homegrown Sanjay Sen to replace Stimac after the Croat was sacked by All India Football. Federation (AIFF) following India's exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Although nothing has been made official by the AIFF, Marquez will get a three-year deal. Interestingly, he will coach both club and country, pending contract. The 55-year-old has a contract with FC Goa till May 31, 2025. He will then be in the national team full-time.
