school holiday: In the wake of heavy rains in the coastal state, the Education Department of Goa has declared a holiday for schools up to Class 12 on Monday, July 15, 2024. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert in the wake of heavy rains in Goa on Monday. Heavy fighting has been going on in the state for the last three days.

Due to heavy rains and a red alert issued by the IMD, all schools from class I to XII in Goa will remain closed on Monday, state education director Shailesh Zingde told reporters. He said that this holiday was declared for the safety of the students.

According to the IMD, in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, Pernem in North Goa received 210 mm of rain, which was described as “very heavy”. Check IMD Weather Forecast for Goa here.

  • Heavy to very heavy rain at some places over Konkan and Goa, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka; In the next 5 days at some places in the state of Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat; Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, North Inner Karnataka on 14th and 15th; Chhattisgarh, Odisha on 14th, Marathwada on 15th July.
