The Bihar government has announced Muharram holidays for schools and banks as per its revised holiday calendar. The education department of Bihar has issued a notice regarding the closure of schools.

Last year, girls outperformed boys in both categories, with a pass percentage of 99.21.
Schools closed today in these states.

Muharram School Holiday List: Schools and colleges in many states will remain closed on Wednesday due to Muharram. Apart from this, schools have been closed for the past two days due to heavy rains in many states. The states where schools and colleges are closed today include Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Gujarat, Bihar and Puducherry.

Classes will resume after the festival ends. However, students must confirm school holidays with their teachers and school authorities.

As already mentioned above, schools have also been closed till date due to heavy rains and red alert issued in the states of UP, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa.

The Bihar government has announced Muharram holidays for schools and banks as per its revised holiday calendar. The education department of Bihar has issued a notice regarding closure of schools.

Schools closed in Puducherry

Schools in Puducherry will remain closed on Wednesday, July 17, on the occasion of Muharram, the Directorate of School Education said. “All schools in Puducherry will remain closed tomorrow (July 17) on the occasion of Muharram,” the Directorate of School Education said.

Muharram has religious significance for Shia Muslims. In India, the 7-8 crore Shia Muslim community, including people of various faiths, participate in large processions and tajas.

In early June, the All India Shia Personal Law Board had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to ensure better arrangements for the upcoming Muharram processions.

The board requested the Prime Minister to ensure security arrangements on the routes decided by the state governments to prevent rogue elements from disrupting law and order.
