Rahul Dravid's son Samit made his India debut against Australia U-19
Samit Dravid has been named in both the 50-over and four-day India-19 squads for the Maharaja T20 Trophy in Karnataka.
New Delhi: Rahul Dravid's son Samit got his first call-up to the India Under-19 team for the multi-format series against Australia in September-October. Samit has been named in both the 50-over and four-day squads against the heavyweights and is best known for his performances in the Maharaja T20 Trophy in Karnataka, where he is playing for the Mysore Warriors.
Fast-bowling all-rounder Samit has been strong with the bat so far – 82 runs in seven innings with a top score of 33, and is yet to bowl in the tournament. But earlier this year, Samit had a good time in the Cooch Behar Trophy, playing a key role in Karnataka's maiden title in the tournament.
The 18-year-old scored 362 runs in eight matches and his 98 against Jammu and Kashmir was notable for his quality and fluency. Samit also had a memorable tournament with the ball, where he claimed 16 scalps in eight matches, including two in the final against Mumbai.
Uttar Pradesh batsman Mohammad Aman has been named the captain of the 50-over team, while Madhya Pradesh's Soham Patwardhan will lead the side in the four-day matches. India U-19 team will play three 50-over matches against Australia U-19 in Puducherry on September 21, 23 and 26. Two four-day matches will be played in Chennai on September 30 and October 7.
