New Delhi: Priyansh Arya's blistering knock of 82 off 51 balls helped South Delhi superstars beat Central Delhi Kings by six wickets in the sixth match of the Delhi Premier League T20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. Half-centuries from Dhruv Kaushik and Yash Dhul took Central Delhi Kings to a total of 176/7 in 20 overs, but the South Delhi superstar chased down the target in 19.1 overs courtesy of a solid partnership between Arya and Ayush Badoni.
After the early loss of Sarthak Ray (1 ball 0) in the first over, Ayush Badoni and Priyansh Arya met the South Delhi superstar's 177-run challenge with composed and strategic batting. By the end of the Powerplay, they had taken the score to 45/1 and consistently scored more than 10 runs per over. Arya completed his half-century off 32 balls, while Badoni contributed a crucial 42 off 36 balls before being caught at midwicket, missing out on his half-century.
With the free-flowing stroke play of Arya and Tejashwi Dahiya, the South Delhi superstar was in control at strategic times. Arya, who scored a brilliant 82 off 51 balls with seven sixes and three fours, was dismissed in the 17th over. In the next over, Tejashwi contributed 22 runs off 14 balls. Despite these quick wickets, the South Delhi superstars were still in the lead, needing just 17 runs off 16 balls.
Vijan Panchal and Dhruv Singh then hit two sixes and a four in the 19th over to seal the win and the South Delhi superstar's second consecutive win in the tournament. Earlier, Hiten Dalal (10 off 9 balls) was dismissed cheaply to Divij Mehra in the third over.
However, skipper Yash Dhul led the charge with Dhruv Kaushik maintaining the scoreboard with a solid partnership of 91 off 65 balls and crossed the 100-run mark in the 13th over. Then in the next over, Kaushik was dismissed for 56 runs off 33 balls.
The South Delhi superstar capitalized on this momentum by taking five wickets in five consecutive overs. Dhul (52 off 44 balls), Keshav Dabas (3 off 7 balls), Jonty Sidhu (14 off 10 balls), Lakshya Thareja (3 off 4 balls) and Harish Dagar all fell quickly, but Central Delhi Kings managed to score 29 runs in the final over. At the end of two overs, Dagar scored 23 off 10 balls to take Central Delhi Kings to a total of 176/7 in 20 overs.
