Priyansh Arya wants to play with Virat Kohli at Royal Challengers Bangalore after his DPL T20 exploits.
Delhi Premier League sensation Priyansh Arya, who idolizes Virat Kohli, became the first player to hit six sixes in an over and is aiming to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
New Delhi: He wears Virat Kohli's jersey number 18 on his back, idolizes the batting maestro and hopes to one day play for his IPL team Royal Challengers Bangalore. Delhi Premier League sensation Priyansh Arya, who became the first player to hit six sixes in an over in the ongoing tournament, said he is not paying too much attention to his chances of being picked in the Indian Premier League mega auction.
Arya is currently the highest run-scorer in the DPL with 602 runs in 9 innings and two centuries to his name. He has an impressive average of 75.25 and an amazing strike rate of 198.0.
“Virat Kohli is my favourite, he wants to play for RCB. My favorite team is RCB, I admire Virat Kohli a lot, I like his aggression. I also like to play aggressive cricket. He is my role model,” Priyansh said in an exclusive interview to PTI Video on Tuesday.
About the six-straight maximum, he said, “I had this in my mind that if a left-arm spinner came to bowl, I would attack him. After the fourth six, I started to believe that I can hit six sixes and go for it. Ayush backed me up and told me to hit,” he reflected on his game.
Arya, the highest run-scorer in a single edition of India's state T20 league, has his eye on the DPL trophy. He praised captain Ayush Badoni for his leadership skills and said that he always supports everyone to get on the field and express themselves.
“Badoni is very relaxed and doesn't talk much, just asks to express himself. The team atmosphere is calm, the coach talks about the positives rather than the negatives. The mentality is to win trophies.
“The semi-finals and the final are the two most important matches so just take it game by game,” said the youngster.
The South Delhi superstar made some significant changes to his playing XI towards the professional end of the tournament.
Captain Badoni himself appeared on the bench and South Delhi went on the back foot with that decision.
“Ayush took a risk for changes in the team. When he returns, our team will be strong again. We were able to improve where we lacked and where we did well,” he concluded.
