PM Narendra Modi's heartwarming letter to Neeraj Chopra's mother to thank him for 'Choorma'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt thanks to Neeraj Chopra's mother Saroj Devi for the home-made chorma sent by him and likened it to a meal prepared by his own mother.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra's mother Saroj Devi for the delicious 'churma' she specially made and sent for the Prime Minister, whose cooking skills reminded him of his own mother.
In a letter dated October 2, 2024, PM Modi said that he met Neeraj Chopra at an event organized to mark the Prime Minister's official visit to Jamaica, where the javelin thrower distributed homemade chorma.
“After giving me the delicious churma you made, my happiness was doubled to meet him. Neeraj usually tells me what delicious churma you make today, I got so emotional after eating it that I couldn't stop myself from writing this letter to you. The gift you sent with affection and recognition reminded me of my mother,” PM Modi said in the letter.
The Prime Minister expressed his happiness at receiving this gift of love and affection from his mother a day before the start of Navratri festival.
“I fast during the nine days of Navratri and in a sense the churma you make before these nine days of fasting has become my main diet,” PM Modi wrote in his letter.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed the hope that just as her churma gave Neeraj Chopra the energy to win a medal for the country, she will find the strength to serve the country during the nine days of Navratri.
In the letter, the Prime Minister said, “I, along with her, assure all the mothers of the country that they will continue to work tirelessly to fulfill the promise of making India a developed country.”
