Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday raised the gratuity limit for state government employees from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, his office said in a statement.
The BJP government in Odisha on Tuesday raised the gratuity limit for state government employees from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 20 lakh. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has taken this decision, according to an official release issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
According to a CMO release, the hike is applicable to Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) and is applicable retrospectively to all regular state government employees from January 1, 2024, and the decision was taken following requests from various service unions. The state is seeking to increase the DCRG ceiling.
The move aligns with the central government's recent adjustment in retirement and death gratuity under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021, which came into effect from January 1, 2024, it said.
Earlier, the Central Government has also increased the Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG) under the Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 2021 for its employees from January 1, 2024.
In August, the Narendra Modi government at the Center approved the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to provide assured pension, minimum pension and assured family pension to central government employees.
