NTA released the final scorecard
The NTA issued a revised scorecard following the Supreme Court's directions which retained the revised evaluation process with adjustments made to the physics section of the exam.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court had directed the testing agency to re-evaluate the scores in the light of the IIT-Delhi expert's opinion on the physics question, which said that a question cannot have two correct answers and only one option should be considered correct.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud said, “We accept the IIT Delhi report and accordingly NTA will revise the NEET UG result on the basis that option 4 will show the only correct answer to the question.”
According to the revised final results released by the NTA on Friday, out of the 67 candidates who were declared toppers earlier, 44 got full marks due to the marks awarded for that particular physics question.
The number of toppers was later reduced to 61, taking away the grace marks given to six candidates by the agency to make up for the loss of time at some examination centres.
SC dismissed pleas seeking re-examination of NEET-UG 2024
Meanwhile, in a major blow to the failed candidates of NEET-UG 2024, the Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed petitions seeking cancellation of the controversial examination and re-testing, concluding that there was no evidence on record to conclude that. Desecrated on grounds of “systematic violation” of its sanctity.
The verdict came for the NDA government and the NTA, which faced intense criticism and protests on the streets and in parliament due to widespread malpractices in the prestigious exam such as question paper cracking, cheating and impersonation. On May 5.
The CBI is probing the alleged irregularities in NEET-UG 2024 and has filed six FIRs. NEET-UG is conducted by the National Testing Agency for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions.
