NASA released breathtaking photos of the Red Spider Nebula, leaving the internet in awe
The image clearly captures “orange waves of hot gas, like the curved legs of a black widow spider, surrounding a pink glowing core.”
NASA News: The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) recently clicked a breathtaking image of the Red Spider Nebula, a planetary nebula located approximately 3,000 light-years from Earth in the constellation Sagittarius. The stunning image was captured by the Hubble Space Telescope.
“The Red Spider Nebula is one of the hottest stars known, heating the gas around it to create shockwaves 62 billion miles (100 billion km) high,” NASA wrote in their post. “These waves form a spider-leg-like arc in this image, with a black widow's clock-like star in the center.”
The image shows the remarkable features of the nebula and has attracted widespread attention on social media.
The image clearly captures “orange waves of hot gas, resembling the curved legs of a black widow spider, circling a pink glowing core.” The background is filled with numerous white points of light, enhancing the celestial beauty of the scene.
Since the photo was posted on social media, the photo has received nearly 600,000 likes and counting. The image is credited to the European Space Agency and Garelt Mellema of Leiden University.
