Kangana Ranaut's film emergency postponed as it awaits censor certificate: Report
The release of Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' has been postponed. The film was slated to hit the big screens on September 6, 2024.
Actress-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for her next release, one of the most anticipated films, Aneebaani. The actress is heavily promoting the film. However, on Sunday, several media reports claimed that Kangana's emergency release date has been postponed, presumably due to issues related to the film. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh has given this news.

On August 31, the Punjab and Haryana High Court took cognizance of a complaint filed by Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh, residents of Mohali. They petitioned for the removal of the emergency censor certificate issued by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and requested that the film be reviewed by prominent Sikh leaders before its theatrical release.
Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal also voiced her opinion on the film's release and said that the film should be reviewed by the SGPC before its worldwide release. During an interview, Harsimrat said, “I haven't seen the film, but if any party put up the biggest struggle during the Emergency, it was the Shiromani Akali Dal. Late Prakash Singh Badal was the first to lead the agitation and arrest along with others.”
News of the film's release comes after Kangana alleged that the film's clearance was “stalled” due to threats against CBFC members.
X (earlier known as Twitter) Kangana shared in a video, “Rumours are doing the rounds that our film, Emergency has been given a censor certificate. This is not true. Actually our film was approved, but due to many threats, the certificate has been stopped. Censor board members are receiving threats. There is pressure on us not to show the assassination of Indira Gandhi, not to show Bhindranwale, not to show the Punjab riots. I don't know what to show then… It's unbelievable to me and I feel very sorry for the situation in this country.
