Now, in a recent interview, Javed Akhtar spoke candidly about the portrayal of modern Indian women in Bollywood films. 'Be a man, man!' During an episode of , the veteran lyricist took the example of Yash Johar's Jab Tak Hai Jaan and said that the female character's dialogue in the film is just a way of fake women empowerment.

Javed Akhtar said, “Ek pictur thi Yash Chopra saab ki, jab tak hai jaan. Usme a dialogue of a heroine, 'Main dunia mein jitni nationality hiin, Har nationality ke ek admi ke boyi ke saath sone ke baad karungi!' Oh brother, why do you work so hard? are you strong are you modern are you cool Do you think ahead? Maan jate hi na… so much hard work ki need nahi hai tumko! Bahut Rashtriyata Hain Duniya Mein Hamare Chakker Mein Mat Paro (There was a Yash Chopra movie called Jab Tak Hai Jaan, in which there is a dialogue where a heroine says I will marry you after sleeping with a man of all nationalities. But why would you work so hard?

He added, “Ab ye kya hain? Dialogue Ka Kya Matlab Hai? Where are you coming from? Yash Chopra Ki Film Mein (This dialogue is what Yash Chopra is doing in the film)! Because they want to fake that she is a strong girl. They don't really understand what a capable girl is, so they are exaggerating.”
