IRCTC Update: In a big news for the passengers of Indian Railways, the Ministry of Railways has announced the addition of 92 ordinary coaches in 46 long distance trains of Indian Railways. With this move, Indian Railways has taken the step by installing 92 new general class coaches in it, the Railway Ministry said on Friday. Here is the complete list of trains to which additional general coaches have been added.

  1. Bangalore City Belagavi Superfast Express
  2. Chennai Central Hubli Superfast Express
  3. Mumbai Bangalore Udayan Express
  4. Mumbai Amravati Superfast Express
  5. Guwahati Lokmanya Tilak Express
  6. Guwahati Jammu Tawi Express

Besides, 22 other trains have also been identified and plans are being made to fit additional general class coaches in them soon, the ministry said.

The Railway Ministry had announced earlier this month that it plans to build 10,000 more non-AC coaches in 2024-25 and 2025-26 to meet rising demand and enhance passenger comfort for the general public on its network.

A senior official unveiled the ministry's plan to increase production by 4,485 non-AC coaches in the current financial year (2024-25) and another 5,444 in 2025-26. Additionally, the Railways plans to introduce more than 5300 ordinary coaches to significantly increase the capacity of its rolling stock.

Informing about the ambitious plan, a senior Indian Railways official said that in the current financial year, Indian Railways will build 2605 ordinary coaches, including the special Amrit Bharat ordinary coaches designed to enhance passenger comfort.

Along with this, 1470 non-AC sleeper coaches and 323 SLR (Sitting cum Luggage Rack) coaches, including Amrit Bharat coaches, 32 high-capacity parcel vans and 55 pantry cars, will be built to cater to various passenger needs and logistics needs. requirement

In the financial year 2025-26, Indian Railways aims to further increase its fleet with 2710 ordinary coaches, continuing to include Amrit Bharat ordinary coaches for their advanced features. Production targets for this period include 1910 non-AC sleeper coaches with Amrit Bharat normal coaches and 514 SLR coaches with Amrit Bharat sleeper coaches.
