As the situation in Bangladesh worsens after Sheikh Hasina's resignation, SCBA President, AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan has requested India to arrest the former prime minister and his sister.

Dhaka: Amid the deteriorating situation and chaos following the resignation and departure of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President AM Mahbub Uddin Khokan has urged India to immediately arrest and return Hasina and her sister Sheikh Rehana. Bangladesh, Dhaka Tribune reported.

“We want to have a positive relationship with the people of India,” Khokan said at a press conference held at the SCBA auditorium. Please arrest Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana who fled the country and send them back to Bangladesh.”

He also accused Hasina of causing numerous deaths in Bangladesh and added, “Sheikh Hasina has killed many people in Bangladesh.”

Many advocates of BNP attended this conference.

Khokan, who is joint general secretary of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), insisted against declaring emergency and demanded the resignation of Supreme Court judges involved in political activities and corruption within a week, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

They demanded the resignation of state law officers, including Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, and heads and officers of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), as they were appointed under Hasina's leadership. Govt

Moreover, Khokan demanded the release of political prisoners.

Bangladesh faces a fluid political situation with Sheikh Hasina resigning from her post on August 5 amid growing protests. These protests, mainly by students, took the form of anti-government protests to demand an end to the quota system for government jobs.

Earlier in the day, President Mohammad Shahabuddin announced the dissolution of the country's parliament to install an interim administration, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

In another major development, BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was also released. Hasina arrived in India on Monday evening and it is not clear whether she will stay in Delhi or go elsewhere.

In Dhaka, anti-discrimination student activists have proposed setting up an interim government to be guided by the wisdom of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. He believes that this will effectively solve the problems currently plaguing Bangladesh.
