Los Angeles: Hollywood star George Clooney has praised US President Joe Biden for his decision to step down from the 2024 presidential race. The actor attended a press event in Venice for his film 'Wolves' and expressed his opinion about Biden passing the baton to current Vice President of the United States Kamala Harris, Variety reported.

He said: “I've never actually had to answer that question so I thought I'd do it here. The person who should be applauded is the president, who has done the most selfless act of a president since George Washington. “

“What should be remembered is the selfless act of someone who finds it very difficult to give up power — we know, we've seen it all over the world — and someone to say I think there's a better way forward. Credit goes to him. And it's really true … I'm very proud of where we are in the world right now,” he added.

During the event, Apple also asked him about moving the film from wide theaters to limited release. He also brought up Nicole Sterling's New York Times report last week that she and Pitt were each paid more than $35 million.

“It was millions and millions of dollars less than reported,” he said. “I think it's bad for our industry to have that standard.”

According to Variety, he said about the changing state of the industry and movies that streaming is an absolute necessity.

“We need it. Our industry needs it. And (streamers) benefit from the release of the film,” he said. “But we don't have it all figured out yet. This is a revolution in our industry. We need Apple and Amazon, and they actually need distributors. They have to have Sony or Warner Bros., who have been doing this for over 100 years.
