On Wednesday morning, actor Govinda's wife Sunita Ahuja visited Critiquere Hospital to check on her husband, who was shot in the leg by a revolver. Speaking to the media, Sunita provided an update on Govinda's condition, saying that he is “doing well” and is expected to be discharged in two days. “He's improving. Today we will shift him to regular ward. His condition is much better than yesterday and he should be discharged tomorrow. With everyone's blessings he has recovered. He has a huge fan following, and I want to assure everyone not to worry – he's fine,” she shared.

The incident occurred around 4:45 am on Tuesday when Govinda's licensed revolver accidentally went off while he was keeping it in a cupboard, Mumbai Police said. At that time he was preparing to go to Kolkata.

Govinda's manager Shashi Sinha told ANI over phone, “Govinda was preparing to leave for Kolkata and was putting his licensed revolver back in the cupboard when it slipped from his hand and the gun hit his leg. The doctor has removed the pill and his condition is stable. He is still in the hospital. “

Hours after the incident, Govinda thanked the doctors who treated him and his well-wishers in an audio message.

“Hello, this is Govinda. I am doing well now with the blessings of my fans, my parents and God. I had a bullet, which has now been removed. I thank the doctor here, Dr. Agrawal G. I thank you all for your prayers,” Govinda said in an audio message in Hindi.

On getting information about the incident, director David Dhawan and veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha came to the hospital to inquire about Govinda's condition.
