Gensol Engineering's stock rose nearly 10 percent on Friday. Counter Rs. 968 and opened at Rs. 1036.90 on buying to touch a high of 1036.90 – the previous Rs. 942.65, up 9.98 percent from its close. “Yesterday's sharp rebound in US markets suggests that recessionary fears were a bit overblown. The lower-than-expected new jobless claims show that the labor market is not loosening as many skeptics feared,” said VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Financial Services.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) offloaded shares worth Rs 2,626.73 crore on Thursday, according to exchange data. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.14 percent to USD 79.27 a barrel.

The BSE benchmark fell 581.79 points, or 0.73 percent, to settle at 78,886.22 in choppy trade on Thursday. It fell 669.07 points, or 0.84 percent, to 78,798.94 during the day. After a breather for the day, the NSE Nifty settled down 180.50 points, or 0.74 per cent, at 24,117. It fell 217.8 points, or 0.89 percent, to 24,079.70 during the day.
