Former Democrat Tulsi Gabbard Endorses Trump For Presidential Race; 'Invite you to join me in saving our country'
Gabbard served as the Democratic representative for Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District from 2013 to 2021, but announced her departure from the party in 2022 after being denounced as an “elitist of warmongers”.
Democrat-turned-independent Tulsi Gabbard, a former congresswoman from Hawaii, has endorsed former President Donald Trump against Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential race. Gabbard, who has become a regular presence in conservative media, made the announcement at a National Guard Association gathering in Michigan where Trump was also speaking, The Hill reported. “As Americans we must stand together to reject this anti-liberty culture of political revenge and abuse of power. We cannot allow our country to be destroyed by politicians who will no longer place the interests of the American people, our freedoms and our future before their own power,” Gabbard said Monday at a National Guard conference in Detroit.
Gabbard said Trump “understands the grave responsibility as president and commander-in-chief for every one of our lives, whether you're a soldier, whether you're an airman, a sailor or a beachhead, he takes care of us. In his heart, in the decisions he makes.
“This administration has us facing multiple wars on multiple fronts in regions around the world, and we are closer to nuclear war than ever before… This is one of the main reasons I am committed to doing everything I can to return President Trump to the White House, where He can serve as our Commander-in-Chief once again,” she added.
“Whether you're a Democrat, a Republican or an independent, I'm proud to stand before you today,” Gabbard said. “If you love our country, as I do, if you value peace and freedom as we do, then I want you to save our country and help President Donald J. I invite you to join me in doing whatever you can to get Trump elected. The White House will do the hard work of saving our country and serving the people.
Gabbard served as the Democratic representative for Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District from 2013 to 2021, but announced her departure from the party in 2022 after being denounced as an “elite cabal of warmongers,” according to Fox News.
The former Democrat, who ran against Harris in the 2019 Democratic presidential primary, was recently tapped by Trump to help prepare for a debate ahead of his Sept. 10 showdown against the vice president at the National Constitutional Center in Philadelphia.
The then-presidential candidate ripped the vice president for imprisoning hundreds of Californians for marijuana violations during the Democratic primary debate and then openly discussed smoking the drug.
“She put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed when asked if she had ever smoked marijuana,” Gabbard said of Harris during the debate.
Gabbard has been an outspoken critic of the Democratic Party since changing her party affiliation before the 2022 midterms, speaking at conservative events such as the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and the Faith and Freedom Coalition Road to Majority Conference.
