DPL T20 West Delhi Lions edge South Delhi Superstars by four runs via DLS method
Krish Yadav's 106 and a decisive innings helped West Delhi Lions to a four-run win over South Delhi Superstars via DLS method in a rain-affected Adani Delhi Premier League T20 match.
New Delhi: West Delhi Lions beat South Delhi Superstars by four runs in DLS fashion in the rain-affected 21st match of the Adani Delhi Premier League T20 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday.
West Delhi Lions scored 178 for 5 in 20 overs thanks to Krish Yadav's remarkable 106 off 68 balls. In reply, South Delhi Superstars got off to a flying start but were restricted to 123/5 in 15 overs, falling four runs short of the DLS method as play could not resume at the cut-off time due to rain.
The South Delhi superstar pulled out all guns blazing to chase the target of 179 runs. Priyansh Arya scored 16 runs in the first over, but his partner Saurabh Deswal was dismissed for a golden duck by the capable Gehlot in the second over. Ayush Badoni then hit four sixes in the same over to take the team's total to 40/2 in two overs.
After scoring 25 off 9 balls, Arya was dismissed in the next over by Rohit Yadav. Badoni, on the other hand, made the fifth maximum of the innings but was dismissed in the fourth over after scoring 30 off 7 balls. The South Delhi superstar scored 70 for the loss of three wickets in the Powerplay, needing 109 off 84 balls.
Tejashwi Dahiya (9 off 9 balls) and Dhruv Singh (15 off 28 balls) lost back-to-back wickets as the South Delhi superstar slumped to 98/5 after 11 overs.
Sumit Mathur and Vision Panchal chased the runs cautiously and took the team's total to 123/5 by the time play was stopped after 15 overs due to rain, with the South Delhi superstars just four runs behind by the DLS method.
Earlier, West Delhi Lions opted to bat first and openers Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav got off to a good start as they put on 61 runs in the powerplay. Kumar, who played a supporting role to Yadav, was dismissed by Digvesh Rathi for 28 off 21 balls in the ninth over.
Meanwhile, Yadav scored a 41-ball fifty in the 12th over to help the team cross the 100-run mark in the same over. By the end of the 14th over, West Delhi Lions were in a comfortable position at 120/1, with nine wickets in hand, poised for a big score.
However, the South Delhi Superstar managed to contain the West Delhi Lions in the next over. Skipper Hrithik Shokin was dismissed for 16 off 18 balls in the 16th over, leaving West Delhi Lions at 141/2, while Yadav completed his century off 62 balls in the 18th over.
The South Delhi superstar then bowled strongly in the last two overs, with Kuldeep Yadav dismissing Krish Yadav for 106 off 68 balls, while Raghav Singh took the wickets of Ekanksh Doble (7 off 8 balls) and Anmol Sharma (2 off 2 balls) in the last over. West Delhi Lions 178/5 in 20 overs.
