Diljit Dosanjh has always entertained his audience be it with songs or live performances. A Punjabi singer has a special place in every music lover's heart. However, recently, Diljit's face has been soured after choreographer Rajat Batta accused the singer of non-payment. According to Rajat, when Diljit and his team did not pay the dues of the dancers who danced in Diljit's Dilluminati tour. Now, the singer and his team have reacted to the news.

The choreographer has accused the dancers of not paying them

Los Angeles-based choreographer Rajat said all desi dancers are undervalued. He also alleged that the dancers in Diljit's Dil-Luminati tour were not paid. In a social media post, he wrote, “As a desi dance community we are really proud to have a desi artist break the glass ceiling and have sold out tours across North America… I'm still disappointed that desi dancers are still undervalued. All the desi dancers in Udyog Diljit's Dil-Luminati tour have not been paid and are only expected to perform for free.”

Rajat further added, “Desi dance as an industry has become the life blood for artistes and plays a vital role in the entire ecosystem of the industry… while its choreography, stage performances, music videos, reels, even songs to promote it… are an essential part. About production, and it's really disappointing that an artiste of this caliber continues to step into the neck of the desi dancer industry and continue to credit that culture.”

Rajat ended the post saying, “Diljit, we are very happy for your success, but your dancers should have been paid and part of the production budget.”

However, after the post made headlines, it didn't take long for Diljit Dosanjh's Bhangra team to react. The team shared a post on Instagram in response to Batta's allegation. The post states, “This post speaks from our hearts, just our voice and our journey. Performing with Diljit Dosanjh was a precious opportunity that gave us the opportunity to showcase our Punjabi culture on the global stage. Our dedication to Bhangra and our cultural heritage is driven by deep respect for our ancestors.”

The post added, “We stand united on the performance decision made with full awareness and acceptance. As we appreciate concern, we do not want to represent it through voices that are not aware of our relationship, our inspiration, sacrifices and the immense value of such experiences.”
