New Delhi: The much-awaited construction of a new six-lane highway connecting Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh to Agra in Uttar Pradesh will finally begin this financial year, Union Minister Ajay Tamta has announced. Besides, permission has been given to construct the Western Bypass of Gwalior Ring Road, which will further improve the connectivity of the region. These projects reflect the government's focus on improving the transport network and promoting economic growth in the region. Stay tuned for updates on this important infrastructure project.

“Madhya Pradesh has set a new dimension of development, which has provided facilities to the masses. Preparation of detailed project report of 88.4 km long Rs 4612 crore six tier greenfield highway has been completed. He told reporters that the work of this project is likely to start in this financial year as tenders have been issued.

Effect of travel time between Gwalior and Agra

Once completed, the travel time between Gwalior and Agra will come down to one hour from the current three hours, the Union minister said.

Tamta said the 28.8-km Western Bypass will also be constructed in Gwalior at a cost of Rs 1,004 crore, which will boost the development of the area. Tamta said his ministry has completed work on the Gwalior-Jhansi highway, reducing travel time between the two cities from three hours to one hour.
