Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan has been ruled out of the Pakistan Test due to a thigh injury
Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan has been ruled out of the Test series against Pakistan due to a groin injury and no replacement has been named yet.
Lahore: Ahead of the start of the two-match Test series against Pakistan, Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan has been ruled out of the series due to a thigh injury. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to name Hasan's replacement.
“We have received a mail regarding Mahmudul who has injured his right thigh and as a result has been rested for three weeks,” Cricbuzz quoted BCB chief medical officer Debashish Chaudhary as saying.
Mahmudul, who was part of the Bangladesh A team that faced Shaheen in Islamabad before joining the Test team, suffered a fielding injury and was unable to bat in the second innings. Despite this, the right-hander showed promising form and scored 65 in the first innings against Shaheen. Besides, he scored 69 and 65 in the four-day matches played against Shaheen as part of the High Performance Unit.
The first Test will be played in Rawalpindi from August 21, while the second Test will be played in Karachi on August 30. The Bangladesh team will travel to Islamabad after completing a three-day practice session in Lahore on Saturday. He arrived in Pakistan early to acclimatise and ensure full preparedness, which may have been disrupted by political unrest in the country.
