Attention Tamil movie fans! Film shooting stopped in Tamil Nadu by TFPC from November 1, this is the reason!

On 29 July, the TFPC held a meeting, during which they took some critical decisions that would greatly affect Tamil cinema. From November 1, any kind of film production will be suspended. In the meeting, they also discussed important issues like increased actor's salary, financial problems experienced by filmmakers, rules and regulations regarding premiere of important films on streaming platforms.

The meeting was attended by prominent members of various Tamil cinema and theater associations. Representatives of Tamil Film Producers Council, officials of Tamil Film Producers Association, Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association and Tamil Nadu Theater Multiple Association, prominent members of Tamil Nadu Film Distributors Association were all part of the gathering.

After the meeting, the TFPC joined in presenting six notable resolutions detailed below:

  1. Films with lead actors, should release the film on OTT platforms only after a gap of two months after their theatrical release.
  2. Film production houses have suffered financially as actors and crew take advance payments and then leave to work on other projects. A decision has been made: whoever has pocketed the advance must complete the ongoing film before moving on to the next offer. Tamil actor, Dhanush has recently signed several contracts with several filmmakers and collected advance money. Before zooming into their upcoming ventures, these producers have been guided to get the green signal from the Tamil Film Producers Council.
  3. Looking back, many Tamil films are facing hold-ups due to not getting proper theater slots. To overcome this problem, the film industry is preparing to introduce new rules. As a result, the production of new films will hit the pause button from August 16.
  4. The expected wrap-up date for films currently in production will be October 30. It is imperative for these production houses to keep the Tamil Film Producers Council informed about the progress of the shoot.
  5. The film industry is currently brainstorming ways to control and improve the skyrocketing compensation and operational costs associated with actors and behind-the-scenes technicians. As a result, the governing council has recommended a halt to all activities related to Tamil cinema from early November.
  6. Together, a group of producers, distributors and cinema operators will come together to form a Joint Action Committee, which will lay the groundwork to tackle the challenges facing the film industry.
