Amid ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, the bodies of 29 people, including 20 Awami League leaders, have been found across the country, local media reported on Wednesday. The deaths came after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and left the country on Monday, the Dhaka Tribune reported. At least 10 people were killed in violence-hit Satkhira and another 11 were killed in a mob attack in Comilla.

The commotion has led to widespread vandalism and looting of homes and business establishments of Awami League leaders and activists. Police have also reported cases of arson in many cities.

Eyewitness accounts

According to a report given by the Dhaka Tribune, former corporator of Ashoktala M. Eyewitnesses narrated the incident of attack on Shah Alam's house. Six people, including five teenagers, died in the fire and their bodies were recovered on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Mob attacks on MPs

Four people were also killed when a mob set fire to the house of Natore-2 (Sadar and Naldanga) Constituency MP Shafikul Islam Shimul. Later, their bodies were found in different rooms of the house and on the balcony.

Awami League office attacked

In Dhaka, parts of the Awami League's central office in the Gulistan area were repeatedly set on fire, even as hundreds of people looted furniture, tiles, rods and other items from the burning building. The office was first set on fire shortly after Hasina's resignation and was attacked again around 12.30 pm on Tuesday.

In Feni on Wednesday, local police found the bodies of two Juba League leaders, Mushfiqur Rahim and Badsha Mia. Awami League leaders and minorities have become the main targets of ongoing violence across the country.

In Lalmonirhat, six dead bodies were recovered from the house of District AL joint general secretary Suman Khan, who had been set on fire by a mob earlier in the day.

2,400 people have been granted bail in cases of violence

A total of 2,400 people, including several top leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami, have been granted bail in cases related to the violence that followed student protests in the South Asian country, local media reported. on wednesday

Among those who got bail are prominent figures like BNP standing committee member Ameer Khasru Mahmood Chaudhary, senior joint general secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Jamaat general secretary Mia Golam Porwar, Bangladesh Jatio Party (Manju) president Andaliv Rahman Partho and former vice president of Daxu. Nurul Haque Noor, The Dhaka Star reports.

The men were produced in court on charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, assaulting law enforcers, arson and damage to property between July 17 and August 4.

In addition, at least 15 cases of murder and two cases under the Cyber ​​Security Act have been registered for spreading false and fake information on social platforms.
