Balochistan: Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in parts of Pakistan, displacing families, disrupting power supply and damaging homes. According to the PDMA report, 5,448 people were affected by the rains, 158 houses were damaged and 622 were partially damaged.

Besides, 102 acres of crops and 35 kilometers of roads have also been affected by the flash floods. The PDMA report also said that heavy rains damaged seven bridges and killed 131 livestock.

Notably, Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz predicted a spell of heavy monsoon rains during August 26-30, which was expected to affect Balochistan, entire Sindh and South Punjab, where citizens were advised to take necessary precautions for their safety. . Security, The Nation reported.

“Another spell of Monsoon is likely to hit Sindh from August 26, which will bring a fresh wave of rain,” he said.

As the monsoon is still ongoing, Sarfraz warned, “Rain intensity is likely to remain mild and heavy, which is likely to disrupt daily life.”

His warning came as a reminder to citizens to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.

“The expected Monsoon spell is likely to bring heavy rains, thunderstorms and strong winds, leading to flash floods, landslides and power outages. By being aware and taking proactive measures, citizens can reduce the risks associated with this weather event,” he noted.

According to the forecast of Pakistan Meteorological Department, the southern part of the country will receive heavy rainfall from August 25 to 29. A low pressure system over West Bengal is expected to move towards the southern coast of the country by August 25, Dawn's weather update shared.
