Hiring Tips: Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for training under the Apprenticeship Act, 1961 in the trades assigned at various Departments/Workshops/Units under the jurisdiction of Southern Railway for 2438 slots. Candidates can apply online at sr.indianrailways.gov.in from 22nd July to 12th August. Only candidates residing in the following places/areas falling under the geographical jurisdiction of Southern Railway are eligible to apply.
- The entire state of Tamil Nadu
- Entire Union Territory of Puducherry
- The entire state of Kerala
- The entire Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands.
- The only two districts in Andhra Pradesh are SPSR Nellore and Chittor.
- Only one district in Karnataka, namely Dakshina Kannada

- Fitter: Must have passed 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) under 10+2 system of education.
- Welder (Gas & Electric): Must have passed 10th (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) under 10+2 system of education.
- Medical Laboratory Technician: 12th pass under 10+2 system of education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (with minimum 50% aggregate marks).

Candidates should have completed 15 years of age and not completed 22/24 years for Freshers/Ex-ITI, MLT respectively. Upper age is relaxed by 3 years for OBC candidates, 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwBD).

Rate of Stipend
The stipend will be paid as per the notification dated 25th September 2019 of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship as per Railway Board's circular RBE 202/2019 dated 26.11.2019.
