Several videos were posted on the social media platform in which protesters were seen lying on Hasina's bed, while others were seen eating fish and biryani. Some protesters even ran away with her sarees and luxury suitcases. Several visuals from Dhaka showed thousands of people celebrating the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government. They shouted slogans to express their joy, while others showed signs of victory and stormed the 'Gan Bhavan', the official residence of the Prime Minister.

Videos showing protesters in the drawing room of Gana Bhavan have gone viral on the internet. People are seen carrying televisions, chairs and tables from what is one of the most protected residences in Bangladesh. After the ouster of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government, Indian security agencies were ready for any contingency as she flew to India for safety in an Air Force jet. Indian Air Force radars were actively monitoring the airspace over Bangladesh and detected the low-flying aircraft coming towards India around 3 pm, sources said.

In July 2022, a similar situation occurred in another neighboring country, Sri Lanka, when protesters attacked the official residence of then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Anti-government protesters sang, and danced to celebrate his government, and looted property. The report states that 17.85 million Sri Lankan rupees were found in Rajapakse's mansion.
