Mohammad Siraj and Kusal Mendis have an ugly fight in the third ODI
India fast bowler Mohammad Siraj clashed with Kusal Mendis in the third ODI as India look to level the series against Geoffrey Wanderers' six-wicket-led Sri Lanka.
New Delhi: India pacer Mohammad Siraj again lost his cool during a heated verbal argument with Kusal Mendis during the third ODI of the series at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, August 7.
In the 39th over, Siraj bowled a delivery that was placed a bit low on the off-side, and Mendis managed to get some batting, but no runs. After the delivery, Siraj took a few steps towards the batter, which led to an exchange of words between the two.
The Sri Lankan team has shown strong form in the 50-over series against India, currently leading the table after their recent win. The Indian team will try to bat strongly to level the series. However, Sri Lanka's bowling attack has been particularly challenged by their spinners.
In the last match, Geoffrey Wanderse played a crucial role for Sri Lanka and took six wickets in the second innings to seal the win. With the series in jeopardy, Rohit Sharma's team will be aiming to overcome the Lankan spinners and claim victory.
Rohit Sharma has kept the Indian team in strong form while batting with a strong start in the last two matches. However, the rest of the Indian batting lineup has struggled to deliver when it counts.
Therefore, the Indian team has given Ryan Parag a chance to make his ODI debut. Parag made a remarkable impact in today's first innings and took 3 wickets along with Avishka Fernando, Charith Aslanka and Dunith Vellage. The young Indian cricketer will now look to contribute with the bat to help Sri Lanka chase down the target of 249 runs.
