Most of the students who aspire to clear the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) usually focus on this sole objective, but there are some who excel in other fields and succeed in clearing the UPSC exam. One such vivid example is IAS Pallavi Sharma, a law graduate and trained classical singer, who cleared UPSC CSE without any formal training with an all-India rank of 73rd.

Who is IAS Pallavi Mishra?

Born and brought up in an upper middle class family in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Pallavi Mishra completed her early education in her hometown before moving to Delhi where she graduated in law from the National Law University. Apart from her academic achievements, Pallavi is also a trained classical singer and holds a Master's Degree in Music and trained in classical music under the late Pandit Siddharam Koravara.

The young IAS officer hails from a distinguished family, Pallavi's father Ajay Mishra is a senior lawyer, while her mother Dr. Renu Mishra is a senior scientist. Pallavi's elder brother, Aditya Mishra, is an IPS officer who currently works as Deputy Commissioner of Police in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

Law graduates to IAS officers

After completing her master's degree in music, Pallavi Mishra decided to follow in her elder brother's footsteps and pass the UPSC CSE, but failed to crack the exam in the first attempt. After the initial setback, Pallavi reviewed her strategy and immersed herself in self-study, which she believes became the key to her success.

Finally, Pallavi Mishra, without the help of any formal training, cracked the UPSC exam in her second attempt and scored an impressive 73.

Pallavi attributes her success to the immense support she received from her family, especially her IPS officer brother, who guided her throughout her journey to becoming an IAS officer.

Along with her UPSC success, IAS Pallavi Mishra is a social media user with over 62k followers on Instagram.
