Kusha Kapila Reveals Why Samay Raina's Jokes Were Censored On Pretty Good Roast Show: 'It Dehumanized Me'

On the Pretty Good Roast show, Kusha Kapila addressed Samay Raina's adverse comments about her split with Zoravar Singh Ahluwalia. Samay Raina had raised some controversial issues about the actress's private life, which made some of his comments go down. Although Kush was toasted with a sense of humor, a section of her followers were not too happy with Sama's frolic. Read on to find out more details.

Recently, Kusha shared her view on the situation on the community tab of her YouTube channel. Kusha said, “Guys, a recent roast made many of my female and queer followers question why I sat through something that could have been completely avoided and with good reason. Here's my two cents: it was done in good faith and for a friend. No one was paid for it (not even comics or guests) so the argument that people are 'being paid huge checks to listen to insults' is baseless (sic).

Kapila further added, “It's been a learning curve for me too because during the last six months of negotiations, I've been told that I deserve these jokes and as a divorced woman I should have seen this coming. Maybe I should and maybe silence on the matter is seen as cowardice but that's probably choosing silence over the endless discourse that villainizes women. Plus, when you don't talk, people believe what they want. So I'm clearing the air as much as I can and advising female artists to keep hard riders (sic).

Kusha Kapila clarified that she will no longer be a part of any roast unless she knows the content beforehand. Like many of the women in the audience, she didn't take the humor of the times as expected. Still, she prided herself on her ability to crack jokes and respond brilliantly with her own punchline.
