In a statement issued on Thursday, the Kolkata Metro Railway announced that metro services will continue as normal and all arrangements have been made in this regard.

“Metro authorities are making all necessary arrangements so that on August 16, services on Dakshineswar-New Garia, Joka-Majerhat, Howrah Maidan-Esplanade, Sealdah-Sector Five, New Garia- routes will run normally from 6 am to 6 pm (12 hours). According to the statement, adequate staff will be deployed at all metro stations to continue normal services as per tomorrow's schedule.

“Adequate security personnel will also be deployed at Metro stations to handle any emergency and assist passengers,” it said, adding that senior Metro officials would monitor the situation from the Metro Rail Bhavan headquarters to take necessary action on a real-time basis.
