In a bizarre incident, a French man is accused of hiring more than four dozen men to sexually assault his wife. The accused is a 71-year-old former employee of French power utility EDF. Now, he is on trial along with 50 other accused for raping an elderly woman. The accused drugged the woman and asked the traffickers to commit the heinous crime.

The accused engaged with the men through a website and incited them to attack his wife, police revealed after searching the chat logs.

He gave his wife power tranquilizers and told the men not to wake her during the abuse. Strangers were told to undress in the kitchen instead of the bathroom so they wouldn't leave any clothes behind.
According to prosecutors, the accused husband recorded the assault and incited strangers to use abusive language against her.

What the French police investigation found

French police launched an investigation in September 2020 after the woman's husband was caught in another case where he was secretly filming up the skirts of three women in a shopping centre. Police found thousands of images, videos of wife from husband's computer. In the video, the woman was seen unconscious. The recordings reveal that several incidents of rape took place at his residence. Police officials have identified 72 men involved in 92 rape incidents. 51 suspects were detained. The accused are between the ages of 21 and 68 and are in different professions.
