Congress condemns NTA president's 'dubious record' after TMC MP raises website issues with Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi: TMC Rajya Sabha member Sagarika Ghosh has written to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asking why there is not enough information about the institute on the website of the National Testing Agency, which is responsible for conducting competitive exams. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), she tagged the letter and asked, “Who are the board members? Who are the officers? Where can we get NTA's annual reports?”

Why does NTA give 'so little' information about itself on its website, asks TMC MP

Sharing a post on X, TMC Rajya Sabha member Sagarika Ghosh said, “I have written to @EduMinOfIndia @dpradhanbjp on: Why National Testing Agency website (NTA which conducts 17 major exams including #NEET) gives so little information? About yourself? Who are all the members of the board? Who are the officers? Where are the annual reports of NTA? NTA needs to provide more information about itself on its website to win public trust for future examinations.

“NTA was established in 2017. It has been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting 17 different examinations over a period of 5 years. Any public body conducting major exams should disclose more details about itself to win public trust and uphold the cause of transparency. NTA's website provides little information about the organization,” Ghosh said in a letter.

She asked whether the government was planning to update the NTA website. “… so that the names of the other board members and officers of the NTA, as well as the annual reports of the NTA, can be made available to the public. “Exams, above all, should be completely credible and the agency conducting them should be above all suspicion. Students should not have to go to court for redress and every exam conducted by NTA should not be plagued with doubts and uncertainties,” she added.

“I therefore request you to immediately update the website of NTA, the names and qualifications of all its board members and officers. The annual report and audited accounts of the NTA should also be uploaded on the website and made available to the public. Such steps will go a long way in establishing the credibility of NTA in the eyes of the public,” the letter further read.

Ghosh alleged that NTA offices list only two landline numbers and the website provides information on only three members of its governing body.

NTA's only job seems to be to outsource: Congress leaders condemn NTA

Meanwhile, Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh, whose party and TMC are constituents of the anti-Bharat Bloc, shared Ghosh's post. “NTA's only job is to outsource. Its chairman has a very dubious record as chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission,” he posted on X.

Head of NTA Prof. Pradeep Kumar Joshi, former Chairman of UPSC. Its director general, Subodh Singh, was sacked in June following the controversy surrounding the 2024 NEET-UG exam held on May 5. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been facing increasing scrutiny following several high-profile paper leaks, which have implications. UGC NET Exam. The controversy has raised significant concerns about the integrity and credibility of the examination process overseen by the NTA.
