A special Air India flight brought back 205 passengers including 6 infants from Dhaka to Delhi
Bangladesh is going through an unprecedented crisis, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who had been in power for 15 years, resigning and fleeing the country and mass protests against the job quota scheme.
A special Air India flight successfully brought back 205 people, including six infants, from Dhaka to New Delhi on Wednesday morning. The chartered flight, operated by an A321 Neo aircraft, marked a significant rescue mission under challenging conditions. Air India operated a flight from the national capital without any passengers in a very short time, despite the infrastructural challenges at the airport there, an official familiar with the developments said.
Resumption of Scheduled Operations:
Air India will resume its scheduled operations from Wednesday with two daily flights from Delhi to Dhaka.
Apart from Air India, Vistara and IndiGo are also set to operate to Dhaka as per their service schedule. Vistara offers daily flights to Mumbai and three weekly services from Delhi to Dhaka, while IndiGo typically operates flights to the Bangladeshi capital from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata.
Result of protests in Bangladesh:
Bangladesh is going through an unprecedented crisis, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who had been in power for 15 years, resigning and fleeing the country, leading to mass protests against her and her government after opposing a job quota scheme. More than 300 people have died in the past few turbulent weeks.
Amid ongoing attacks on police personnel in various parts of Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Inspector General of Police on Tuesday released a video message urging protesters, including student leadership, to urge people to refrain from attacking security forces.
Bangladesh Police IG Chaudhary Abdullah Al-Mamoon said in a video message, “I request the respected political leadership and respected student leadership to appeal to the people not to attack members of the police force.”
He also complimented them on the Bangladesh Army's “tireless efforts” to ensure the safety and security of police personnel and their establishments.
“All efforts will be made to resolve the issues highlighted by members of the Bangladesh Police. I request all members of Bangladesh Police to discharge their duty with determination and patience after ensuring security. I hope that with everyone's cooperation the situation will return to normal soon,” he said.
