18 killed as Solar Airlines plane crashes during takeoff at Nepal's Tribhuvan International Airport
An accident took place around 11 am in the flight departing from Pokhara carrying nineteen people along with the flight crew.
A Solar Airlines plane carrying 19 people crashed during takeoff at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport. According to a report by state television, the plane bound for Pokhara met with an unfortunate accident at around 11 am. The 19 people on board included the flight crew and pilot Captain MR Shakya, who has been hospitalized following the incident. Fortunately, the fire from the aircraft has been extinguished and rescue operations are underway at the crash site by the police and fire brigade. The welfare of the passengers is unknown at this time.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. Officials are working to find out the factors that led to this unfortunate incident. According to preliminary information, five bodies have been recovered from the accident site.
Smoke is visible at the airport. Police and firemen are conducting rescue operations at the accident site.

Solar Airlines, a domestic carrier operating with a modest fleet of three Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft, each carrying 50 passengers, is at the center of this sad incident.
